I have been asked to sign a document using DocuSign. Do I need a DocuSign account?
No. Buyers and sellers who are signing documents electronically don’t need a DocuSign account, and you don’t need to buy anything. All you need is an email address.
How will I know where to initial and sign the documents?
It couldn’t be easier. Once you receive the E-mail from DocuSign, the system will automatically guide you through the document.
How does the process work when I share an E-mail address with someone else who also must sign a document?
No problem. DocuSign allows the sender of the document to enter an E-mail address more than once with different signer names. DocuSign will simply send the document to the same E-mail address based upon the number of signers using that address. When you receive the E-mail from DocuSign, you select the E-mail that is associated with your name on the document[s]. Once the first signer who shares the E-mail signs the document, the next signer who shares the same E-mail address signs the document.
How does DocuSign prevent incomplete versions of the document from circulating?
When a signer signs, there will be a watermark in the center of the document[s] reading "In process" until all signers have completed the document. DocuSign will send all signers a completed document in the form of a .pdf document to your E-mail address when all parties have completed the documents. The document can be accessed using Acrobat Adobe Reader. If your computer is not equipped with of Acrobat Adobe Reader click here
for a free download.
Are electronic signatures legal & safe?
In 2000, the U.S. Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce (ESIGN) Act established electronic records and signatures as legally binding, having the same legal effects as traditional paper documents and handwritten signatures. But not all eSignature solutions are created equal. Only DocuSign warrants federal ESIGN Act compliance.
DocuSign offers the most robust set of identity management and authentication solutions available.
Can I sign on a mobile device?
Can other people receive a completed copy of the document[s] such as my attorney, real estate agent and mortgage lender?
Yes. The sender of the document can send a copy on to the seller’s or buyer’s attorney, the listing or selling agent, mortgage lender or anyone at all.
How do I receive a copy of what I signed electronically?
DocuSign will send all signers a completed document in the form of a .pdf to your E-mail address when all parties have completed the documents. The document can be accessed using Acrobat Adobe Reader. If your computer is not equipped with Acrobat Adobe Reader click here for a free download.
You will be presented with the option of saving your document "in the cloud" by opening a free DocuSign storage account. You may also, print or download your document.
Who do I contact if I have questions during the signing process?
