November has snuck up on us and it is that time of year to start collecting toys for our annual Toys for Tots campaign! Each year Coldwell Banker Prime Properties works with our local Marine Corp to help collect toys to be distributed to children who may not be in a position to receive a toy during the holidays.
While our focus is toys we must remember to that older kids would also like to receive a gift during the holiday season. Feel free to drop off a gift bag of fun cosmetics that a teen girl may enjoy. A teen boy may like a football or a chess set. This age group is often forgotten so feel free to focus your shopping on this group of kids if you would like.
The Toys for Tots train travels up and down the eastern New York distributing toys to children but also COATS AND MITTENS, especially up north. Last year many families in the northern drop off stations didn't even bother picking a toy as they were focused on getting a warm coat and gloves for their children. One of the heartbreaking stories I heard from the train trip last year was about a teenage boy who showed up to the train stop in nothing but a t-shirt in 20 degree weather. One of the mothers helping on the train saw him patiently waiting to see what was available. She made sure he left there with a coat, blanket and mittens. The boy politely thanked her....he did not want to take anything else. If you would like to donate a COAT, BLANKET, MITTENS or GLOVES please feel free to drop them off as well.
The children in need of these gifts did not choose to be in the situation their families are in. Children deserve to be warm in cold weather and thankful for a gift that can put a smile on their face in the down times. Many of us are fortunate enough to be able to help so I hope you will drop off a toy, teen gift or new warm clothing to help those who need it most - our kids.
Please drop your toys or clothing off to any of our Coldwell Banker Prime Properties locations throughout the Capital District. For a location near you please go to www.coldwellbankerprime.com.
Thank you and Happy Holidays!!
