Auburn is a city located in Cayuga County, NY, and is the county seat. The city is also Cayuga County’s largest community.
The estimated population is around 28,000. Auburn lies in the center of the Finger Lakes Region, roughly 120 miles east of Buffalo and 35 miles west of Syracuse.
Once called Hardenberghs Corners, Auburn was renamed when it became the county seat in 1805. Auburn was incorporated as a village in 1815.
The city boasts a close community, deeply involved in the arts, history and culture. Auburn has several museums and historical landmarks, including the Harriet Tubman House and the William Seward House.
The city is also the home of the Auburn Doubledays, a nonprofit minor league baseball team.
