November is upon us and Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away. Christmas and Hanukkah will arrive in about 5 weeks. Many sellers ask themselves this time of year: "Should I list my home now or wait until after the holidays or better yet, the Spring market?"
As a realtor who has been successfully selling homes in the Capital District for about 20 years, I can assure you that this is a great time to sell your home! Doesn't it look festive now? A wreath on your door; the fire glowing in your fireplace; perhaps a Christmas tree beautifully decorated or wonderful candles glowing throughout your home? The wonderful scents of the season and the lights on to make even the darkest home bright!
Let me add a few more business reasons to list now:
January is traditionally the biggest corporate transferee month and buyers are looking now to close in January or early February
Wintertime prospects are more motivated - they have to move and are not out just getting "decorating ideas"
Statistics show that this season has one of the highest listings-sold to listings-taken ratios
Less competition from other sellers making your home stand out
Getting your home sold positions you to find a home on your time frame and in the early Spring
Your holiday festivities will not be impacted - you can restrict your showings if necessary during your holiday entertaining
If a move is in your future...don't delay! Act today and give me a call. I will be glad to share with you some other reasons why listing in the Winter is good business.
