Getting your Car Ready for Winter - Part 4 of 6 Sinple steps
Checking your Drive Belts
When: Drive belts and their condition and tension should be checked at every oil change, and replaced every four years or 60,000 miles. Check your drivers' manual for specific recommendations.
Why: The flexibility of the drive belts will assure that your engine runs properly, as they are responsible for transferring the engine's power to various accessories, and that helps your vehicle to function properly.
If the belts are too tight, they can damage the bearings and cause component failure. When belts are to loose, they may cause slippage and reduce efficiency.
