Your first house

It's so important to have your agent sit down with you before you start looking at houses and really explain the whole buying process to you.  You will feel more confident and better knowing what the various steps are and how protected you are from buying a house that might cause you problems down the road.  You would also want to get pre-approved before you start looking.  A loan officer could help you decide what you can afford and what your payments would be so that you don't get in over your comfort level.

Also, if you don't have an attorney, your agent should be able to recommend an attorney who will represent you and be responsive to your needs.
