Everyone wants to end up in a great neighborhood. How do you know when you're looking at houses if you're going to end up in a great neighborhood. It's about more than pretty homes and location. Some areas just seem to age better and the people seem to get along well. Ask your realtor for a little background info. Is it a transient area with a huge turnover rate?
My husband and I were so lucky in buying a home where we did. We had younger children and it was important to us that they have friends to play with, that we could socialize with our neighbors and we wanted to find a place that was close to everything but still gave us some privacy. Our kids are now gone and our last one is in college but yet we continue to have interactions with our neighbors, the ladies play Bunco once a month and there's still an active coffee group. My kids have friends they've stayed close to from the neighborhood and one of my daughter's bridesmaids for her upcoming wedding is from the neighborhood. I can truly say that we are so happy we bought a house where we did.
