Tips Before Remodeling

It's important to consider more than interior cosmetics when thinking about remodeling your home.  When you plan to make large expenditures such as remodeling a kitchen, you should make sure the exterior of your home, especially your roof, are in good shape.  If there is a weather related event, it could prove to be disastrous to both the exterior and interior of your home!  Another thing to consider about your exterior is your curb appeal.  Remember, the first thing a buyer will see is the entrance.  Make sure the area is clean and well maintained.  Does your front door need replacing or may just a fresh cost of paint or stain.  When it comes to interior remodeling, kitchen and baths are the places that you will get the most return on your investment.  Don't put expensive countertops on old worn cabinets, it just doesn't make financial sense.  If you can't afford to do it all, you can still do some things to make it more appealing.  Painting a neutral color gets the attention of more homebuyers.  Changing knobs, handles and light fixtures throughout the house will give it a more current look.  One other major improvement that will benefit you two ways are replacing your windows.  You will save on utilities and it is also key selling point. There are many other ideas that you can find by doing a little homework.
