A little bit about me; I'm a life-long resident of the Capital Region.  I am a graduate of Colonie Central High School, in addition to the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY.  I earned a BA in Sociology/Criminal Justice in 1988. In 1991, I secured a job as an office manager at a law firm in downtown Schenectady.  I managed that firm until 2000, then moved on to manage a firm in the Colonie/Guilderland area until 2008. 

How is that of benefit to you?  Attention to detail, organization, communication and follow up!   Believe me, I may have to place ten phone calls and several e-mails, but I will get you the answers you need!!

Five Tips to Get Your Home Sold This Year

I guess it's no different than going to the doctor.  He or she may advise you to lose weight, stop smoking or exercise more, yet, we don't always listen to professional advice. 

It's no different with real estate.   We make suggestions, but unfortunately, our advise isn't always taken.  The result?   Unhappy sellers with homes left, well, unsold.

Here are five tips to help you get your home sold - just what the doctor ordered:

1.  Price your home right from Day One. 
     Starting high - you'll become invisible to potential buyers.

2.  You only have one chance to make a first impression.  
     All improvements, painting, decluttering should be addressed prior to going on   
     the market.

3.  Be open minded.  
     Before you shoot down the possibility of offering a credit for appliances or
     meeting half way on an inspection issue, you may want to step back and
     think about whether a small victory is worth losing the buyer AND the contract.

4.  You get what you pay for. 
     Saving a little on commission can have an immediate impact on what you
     actually walk away with.   The agent who works for less probably isn't giving
     you more.  

5.  Stay local.  Reading the news about the "housing market?"  The news is rather
     gloomy.   Now take a look at the 2012 Year in Review, (located just below this
     entry).
     The moral of the story?  Don't look at Chicago's weather to decide whether you
     need an umbrella in Albany today.  
     Our market remains one of THE BEST in the country.
