Liverpool Real Estate Listings and Information

The village of Liverpool is located in Onondaga County, New York. The 2000 census found the village population to be 2,505.

Liverpool’s name was derived from the City of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

The suburban village is northwest of Syracuse and lies in the western portion of the town of Salina.

In the 16th century, Liverpool was originally settled by the Iroquois. Eventually, the French Canadian Jesuits visited the area, setting up missions in the 17th century; however, the missions were not stable. After the Erie and Oswego Canals were created, the area was settled by Yankee settlers, Irish canal workers and eventually German immigrants.

In its early time, the Liverpool area was known as “Little Ireland.”
