Bourbon Bars - Capital Region, NY - CB Prime Properties

The Capital Region has become known for its dining and drinking culture over the past few years. If you're a bourbon lover, then you're in luck: There are several craft distillers and bourbon bars in and around Albany. While you're in the area looking at Albany homes for sale, we highly recommend stopping by one of these destinations for a drink, a tasting, and perhaps even a tour.

  1. Albany Distilling Company: 75 Livingston Ave., Albany, NY 12207
Albany Distilling Company is a small craft distillery that creates spirits using a combination of traditional and modern methods. They make their own rum and vodka, but they're particularly well known for their bourbon whiskey. It's 43% ABV and aged for 48 months.

Distillery tours are available by appointment, only on Saturdays at 3 pm. However, you can stop by the bar any Thursday, Friday, or Saturday evening for a drink. In addition to simple pours of their spirits, ADCo serves several bourbon cocktails. The Brooklyn Bourbon, made with cherry syrup, is a favorite.

  2. The Bishop: 90 N. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12207
The Bishop is a fine dining restaurant and bar with an exceptional selection of bourbons. Their bourbon list is several pages long, featuring Four Roses Single Barrel and Eagle Rare options. They also offer some delicious craft cocktails, including an Old Fashioned made with Knob Creek Bourbon.

If you happen to stop by for dinner, you'll find menu items like short ribs with polenta, swordfish steaks, and pasta buttera. The Bishop also offers Saturday and Sunday brunch with a good selection of brunch cocktails, savory dishes, and sweet treats.

  3. Savoy Taproom: 301 Lark St., Albany, NY 12210
Savoy Taproom is a modern bar and restaurant with a lovely outdoor dining area open during nice weather. They have a great selection of bourbon whiskeys, including Pappy Van Winkle and Bookers. If you visit with anyone who prefers Scotch, they should be happy with the selection too. Cocktail drinkers tend to enjoy the Gates of Hell, made with Old Forester, Averna Amaro, sherry, and Angostura bitters.

Savoy Taproom's food menu offers something for everyone as well. Selections range from a classic Caesar salad to pesto tortellini.

  4. Parish Public House: 388 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207
If you enjoy your bourbon with a side of good music, Parish Public House is the place to go. This pub has a moody vibe and hosts many great jazz bands. In addition to a good selection of craft beers, they offer an extensive selection of high-end spirits, including bourbons.

Check out the Parish Public House event calendar to see a list of upcoming shows. Or, browse their menu, which features Louisiana favorites like gumbo and po'boys.

  5. Capital Distillery: 32 Learned St., Albany, NY 12207
Capital Distillery is a small-batch distillery that makes its own bourbon, gin, vodka, and honey brandy. Guests rave about their Doug's Share Bourbon, made with handpicked grains.

Capital Distillery has a relaxing deck where you can play games or soak in the sun while sipping your bourbon. You can also participate in a guided tasting or purchase a bottle to take home. In addition to the bourbon, consider trying the NY Honey, a brandy made with real New York grapes and locally harvested honey.

Regardless of where you go for bourbon in Albany, we're confident you'll enjoy yourself. Contact us if you're new to the area and looking for a place to call home. Our real estate agents will be happy to offer some guidance.
