Looking for a new home? You’ll no longer be able to find it on Zillow or Trulia!
If you are like most people today you know all about Zillow and Trulia and have probably taken a look at what they have on their sites. There has always been talk about the accuracy of their information and what you can take from it as fact. That being said, up until today they have been able to provide you with somewhat up to date listings for you to look at and browse through your local market.
Listings and home information surprisingly doesn’t magically appear on the internet for the public to view. There are several agencies across the country that regulate, own and sell listings to internet sites for distribution and marketing. One of these being the popular company ListHub, which distributes several local MLS listings and information for its customers. Unless you are watching the news closely or in the business of real estate it is likely that you have missed the announcement of today’s events regarding the relationship between ListHub and Zillow/Trulia.
As of the end of day today, April 7th 2015, ListHub and Zillow/Trulia will part ways. While not a huge impact on many people, if you are a current or future buyer or seller of real estate this is a game changer. These sites that you have relied upon for your home search up until now will no longer contain a vast majority of the homes that are for sale in our area as well as many others. While I am sure you have heard the groan from agents and professionals when the name of those sites is mentioned, this is one of the reasons you get that response from us.
I, as well as other agents, are in the business of finding your next home or selling your current one. A job that I know I take a lot of pride in and have armed myself with all of the tools and information necessary to do the best job possible. My job is my clients satisfaction and real estate… Zillow/Trulias job is profit… simple as that.
I cannot stress enough that the ONLY way to get accurate real estate information and especially to know about all of the homes for sale in the area is to work with a licensed Realtor. As a Certified Buyers Agent myself I can tell you that an accurate home search is not as simple as a web search on your home computer. Using a buyers agent to find your new home does NOT cost you extra in fees or commissions, the same dollar amount is paid from the sellers whether you are at the mercy of the sellers agent or if you have your own agent working for you.
If you or someone you know is or will be in the market for real estate please have them call or email me anytime. I would be happy to discuss the pro’s and con’s on using a Realtor in their search and ultimate purchase.
