If your home does not look inviting on the outside, a buyer rarely wants to see the inside. You remember that that old phrase we were all taught "first impressions count." It is true with a home. If a buyer thinks you have not taken care of the outside, they wonder what you have been doing with the inside. Can you blame them?

Think about a car. If you were in the market to buy a used car and the exterior had dents, scratches and bad tires wouldn't you wonder if the owner ever changed the oil? So too with a home. Even though it is winter, you can still make the outside look attractive. It is too cold in most areas to paint your front door but you can put a nice wreath on it. Driveways and walkways can be cleared of snow, ice or old leaves. Don't leave old cars parked in your driveway. Move them out of sight and if that is not possible, make sure they are not visible in photos, at showings and during the open house.
