I always get excited when my issue of Better Homes and Gardens comes in the mail. I know everything can be ordered via the Kindle I have but there is just something about getting to read that magazine cover to cover and not through an electronic device. Everything that I love about homes and nature is in that magazine. One page is always devoted to paints. One month it might be shades of blue or another month shades of yellow. Always a suggestion about what rooms would be best for those particular paints and what other colors would be complimentary.  Fabulous for a realtor who also loves to help stage her client's home!

As I flip from page to page, I see home and garden make-overs. How to dress myself on $50 or less with the latest styles. What should I barbacue for July 4th and how should I decorate my table. Easy enough for anyone to pass one of the recipes onto the cook in your family! Gorgeous flowers adorn another page and often one of BHG covers. Sometimes lilacs in May or roses in June. Pictures of families and great suggestions about pets and everyday living.

You might be asking yourself - what does this have to do with real estate? We live in a technology age. It's quicker to go to the internet and look at a home than do a drive-by or call a realtor and take a look at it. Some amazing home are passed by because an agent did not do the pictures justice. On the flip side, many buyers have been disappointed when they arrived at a home because the pictures on the internet "over sold" the home.

I am definitely a picture person and maybe that is why I love that magazine so much. I could go on the internet and order it but it just would not be the same for me. I know the colors would not be as vibrant and the paint shades would somehow lose their luster. There are other magazines that are perfect for the internet and certainly most books.

A few years ago many people would have us believe that realtors would not be necessary. You as a buyer could purchase a home on the internet. Actually and you can but why would you want to? There really is nothing like the real thing...and you should let an experienced real estate agent show it to you and share her or his valuable experience with you.
