I must admit I am addicted to Twitter. Seriously, I love it. I have learned so much from the people and places I follow. Everyday I look forward to checking my Twitter account and seeing the new tweets...wondering who is following me and what new information I will learn from those whom I follow.
Did you know that Benjamin Moore has three patriotic colors for the Olympics? The paint colors are ruby red, patriotic blue and cloud nine. Are you planning on running a 5K soon? Might want to have a cup of coffee or a glass of unsweetened tea 30-60 minutes prior to the race for some added endurance. The U.S. economy only grew 1.5% in the second quarter this year.
Who is Lola? Why she is Siri's little sister! I learned about her by following my brother @SteveCiesinski on Twitter. In fact all of the information that I shared with you in the preceding paragraph I learned on Twitter! Sometimes I will be with friends or clients and I will mention something and they will say, "where did you hear that?" Nine times out of 10, I will have learned or heard about it on Twitter.
Twitter is my source of news, gossip, local and national weather, home staging tips, mortgage advice, recipes, inspirational quotes, sports and what is happening in my industry - real estate. I know what is trending at any hour of the day. I can see into a person's private day if they care to share it and they can see into mine. I often know where someone is and why they were there. I may try a restaurant, vacation spot, recipe, exercise video, movie or even share a mortgage tip with a client based on a tweet I saw on Twitter. My diet coke ad on my website was a result of @DIETCOKE sending me a tweet.
I have found a much needed outfit on Twitter and a daily Bibly verse. I knew Matt Barkley from USC was not going to enter the draft and @Oprah told me that 1 out of 6 Americans has no idea where they would get their next meal.
Most of my friends are on Facebook. I think it is an excellent way to stay connected to friends, family and local events. Twitter however has opened my eyes to the world. It has enhanced my business with excellent tips from Realtors in other states; made me aware of new funding issues facing my industry; forced me to think daily about the economy and its impact on me, my business, my family and my clients.
One little tweet. Only 140 characters and the impact a statement can have on so many people. I read one today that I will share with you. "Real estate is at the core of almost every business and it's certainly at the core of most people's wealth." The statement was made by Donald Trump and it was tweeted by @AshleyStevens. He is a realtor I follow from Toronto.
If you are not on Twitter, you should think about opening an account. You do not have to share personal information to open the account. Pick a user name and you are in business. I am DedeSellsHomes. I look forward to having you follow me. Please tweet me and let me know you found me on my website and I promise to follow you.
