Geddes is a town located in Onondaga, NY. At the 2000 census, the town’s population was 17,740. Geddes is located to the west of the neighborhood of Far Westside Syracuse, and is considered a suburban area. The town was produced from the Town of Salina in the year 1848.
Geddes’ name was derived from a settler by the name of James Geddes, who settled at the top of the Onondaga Lake in 1794 and was involved in the development of the salt industry.
The town of Geddes includes the Village of Solvay and the hamlets of Westvale and Lakeland.
