The name of the village and lake originates from the local Cayuga tribe. The village of Cayuga is located in the western portion of the Town of Aurelius.
It was incorporated as a village in 1857. Cayuga Lake is the longest of the major Finger Lakes, spanning 42 miles. The village was previously known as the area by “Long Bridge.”
In past times, Cayuga was a prosperous industrial community.
