Take advantage of all four season on Great Sacandaga Lake.
Autumn is breathtaking as nature's canvas becomes a blaze of colors. Hike along the foliage, take in some bird watching, check out some local crafters or go for one more ride before boating season ends. You'll want to check out the Fall Festival in Northville, the craft show at Eagle Mills Cider Co. and the annual Witch's Ball as well as apple picking, cider and pumpkin patches.
Cold weather getting you down? Think again. Winter in upstate New York offers a host of activities such as snowmobile races, fun runs and scavenger hunts, ice fishing tournaments, cross country skiing and snowshoeing around the lake. You'll want to be sure to schedule the annual Winter Fireworks on your calendar, too.
Spring features Maple Weekend and plenty of the Farmer's Markets throughout the area.
In the warmer weather, look forward to boating, water skiing, jet skiing and fishing along the 125-mile shoreline. Saratoga Race Track is just 25 miles away, so consider an August day at the track and then kick back at your summer getaway and watch the sunset over the lake. The annual Ring of Fire on Labor Day Weekend is a much anticipated event. Since 1988, this farewell to summer tradition brings together residents and vacationers to build a fire around the lake as a farewell gesture until "next year." The glow from the fires encircle the 125 miles of shoreline around the lake as friends and families say farewell to another season.
