About Poland

It may sound like a foreign destination, but in addition to a country in Europe, Poland is also the name of a small village in Herkimer County, covering about half a square mile, just north of Utica, in upstate New York. First settled in 1800, it was originally called Maple Valley, and then Russia Flats. It was ultimately named Poland, because it's just southwest of the town of Russia. It's a beautiful area, with plenty to see and do, and a great place to make your new home.
